Getting started
How do I create a short link?
Paste any long URL into the shortener on the home page or your dashboard and you’ll get a short link instantly. Sign in to give it a custom slug, track its clicks, and manage it later.
Do I need an account?
No — you can shorten a URL without one. An account unlocks analytics, link editing, custom slugs, smart routing, A/B testing, custom domains, and the API.
Managing links
Can I choose my own short code?
Yes. When you create a link you can set a custom slug instead of the random code, as long as it’s still available.
Can I edit or disable a link after sharing it?
Yes. You can change a link’s destination, title, and expiration, or disable it entirely, at any time from the dashboard — changes take effect immediately, since links are never cached.
Can links expire automatically?
Yes. Set an expiration date on any link; once it passes, visitors see a branded “expired” page instead of the destination.
Smart routing & A/B testing
What is smart routing?
Smart routing sends visitors to different destinations from the same short link based on rules like device, operating system, or country — handy for app-store links, localized pages, and campaigns.
What is A/B testing?
Split a link’s traffic across multiple destination variants by weight, then compare how each performs. urlz.sh reports each variant’s conversion rate, lift over the control, and statistical significance, and tells you when it’s safe to declare a winner. You control the split and can pause or resume the test anytime.
How are conversions tracked?
When a visitor is sent to a variant, urlz.sh tags the destination so your page can report back when they convert — via a small tracking pixel or an API call. Those conversions then show up against each variant, feeding the conversion-rate and significance numbers.
Analytics
What analytics do I get?
Clicks over time, unique visitors, top countries, devices, and referrers — both per link and across your whole account.
Can I share a link’s stats publicly?
Yes. Turn on public stats for a link to get a shareable analytics page that anyone can view without logging in.
Domains, API & billing
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. You can connect a custom domain so your short links live on your own brand instead of urlz.sh.
Is there an API?
Yes — a REST API with keys you can create under Settings → Developer, for creating and managing links programmatically.
How does pricing work?
You can start for free and upgrade as you grow — there are no per-click fees. See the pricing page for current plans, or email us if you have questions.
